IELTS Preparation Course

The IELTS Preparation Program is designed to prepare candidates for success in the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) exam. It focuses on providing comprehensive training in all four language skills: Listening, Reading, Writing, and Speaking. The program is open to the general public over the age of 18, students aspiring to study in English-speaking universities, and individuals planning to live and work in English-speaking countries.

Program Objectives:
 
Prepare IELTS Candidates for Exam Success:
- Provide candidates with effective exam techniques and strategies.
- Utilize authentic materials created by IELTS exam writers.
- Deliver instruction through experienced native speakers.
Learn to:
- Improve academic writing skills.
- Read effectively.
- Impress examiners in the speaking tasks.
- Manage the listening tasks.
Skill Enhancement:
- Detailed explanation and practice for each section of the IELTS examination.
- Work on different types of questions candidates can expect to find in each section.
- Analyze the language skills and strategies for each type of question.
- Provide study tips and test tips to help candidates achieve their best scores.
Test Preparation:
- Weekly assignments for each part of the test as a follow-up to the materials discussed and practiced in class.
Incentive for Current AUIB Students:
- Offer current ASP and CEP students an opportunity to excel in the IELTS exam.
- Serve as an alternative to a general CEP language course, focusing on IELTS-specific preparation.

WHAT ARE THE ENTRY REQUIREMENTS? 
 
1. Non-AUIB/CEI students need to:
   - Take the Accuplacer test at the AUIB campus or provide recognized qualification to certify they have a B1 level of English to join the IELTS 5.5 course or at least a B2 level to join the IELTS 6+ course.
2. For AUIB/CEI students:
- Students with level 4 or equivalent B1-level qualification are exempt from a level test and may join the IELTS 5.5 course.
- Students with level 5 or equivalent B2-level qualification are exempt from a level test and may join the IELTS 6+ course.
- Students below level 4 must take the Accuplacer test or provide a recognized qualification certifying a B1 level for the IELTS 5.5 course or a B2 level for the IELTS 6+ course.
Additionally:
- Three days into the course, the teacher will assess the student’s abilities to handle the materials. At this point, students wishing to withdraw may do so with a refund.

  • Reading comprehension strategies for IELTS 
  • Analysis of IELTS reading materials 
  • Test-like reading exercises.
Speaking
  • Developing fluency and coherence in speaking
  • Practicing speaking tasks
  • Mock speaking interviews
Writing
  • Writing techniques and strategies for IELTS
  • Practice with IELTS writing tasks. 
  • Feedback and improvement

Listening

  • Listening comprehension skills
  • Practice with IELTS listening tasks.
  • Realistic exam simulations 
Review & Test
  • Comprehensive review of all IELTS components 
  • Mock IELTS exam to assess progress.  

 



Exam and Certification:
  • Participants will undergo continuous IELTS assessment in-class and externally, following the IELTS grading rubric.
  • A midpoint and end-of-course mock IELTS exam will measure progress.
  • Upon course completion, participants will receive a detailed certificate, including the mock test results and potential IELTS band score.
